Sport and Physical Activity

We regularly undertake research and evaluation in the field of sport and physical activity. We are particularly interested in sport and equality, and sport for life – where physical activity is used as a mechanism for bringing about positive change for individuals and communities.

Client: sportscotland

Title: Evaluations of sportscotland supported work in Clubs and Schools 

Description: Our team undertook two major evaluations of sportscotland supported work in club and school environments. The work involved a national survey of school pupils, consultation with practitioners in the sport and education sectors, and development of learning notes to guide future practice. Client: The Robertson Trust, sportscotland and Scottish Government

Title: Sport for Change

Description: We undertook this research in 2016 which explored the role and contribution of sport and physical activity in bringing about change for individuals and communities in Scotland. This interesting research involved an online survey (which received 660 responses), telephone and face to face interviews with organisations delivering sports and others involved in Sport for Change approaches. We also delivered information sessions and workshops and carried out a literature review. The published research can be found here.
